Another link up with the Trifecta challenge, this time a 33 word story about a “giant leap” in honor of the moon landing anniversary…
—
Birds warbled in the darkness. A single bag was draped over her, its strap pressed into her chest alongside the sleeping bundle. She closed the storm door gingerly, silently. With faith she leapt.

I enjoyed this. I love how you used the word warbled. Good stuff!
Nice response
This reminds me of:
“Wednesday morning at five o’clock as the day begins
Silently closing her bedroom door
Leaving the note that she hoped would say more
She goes down the stairs to the kitchen clutching her handkerchief
Quietly turning the backdoor key
Stepping outside she is free.”
I get the sense of a new parent here, who has finally gotten a ‘sleeping bundle’ to SLEEP.
I get a more sinister sense than jesterqueen – of escape. Understated and effective.
I liked reading the different ideas in the comments and enjoyed JQ’s perspective, but am getting more of a feeling of freedom, of slipping out unnoticed. Thanks for linking up. please come on back for the longer challenge this week.
Thank you guys for the great feedback!! Appreciated!!! Definitely had the ‘escape’ theme in mind : )
